FAQ

What is the difference between the Colour edition and Black edition?

Both our Colour edition and Black edition contain the same pallet of 20 colours. The difference is only in the visual appearance of the pen casing.

Can the magnets harm my electronic devices or credit cards?

Most modern devices like phones and laptops which rely on SSD (solid state memory cards like-flash cards) are not easily affected by magnetic fields.

However, some older devices or magnetic media, magnetic cards (like credit cards)  including medical devices, can sometimes be sensitive to magnetic fields and should be kept at a safe distance. If in doubt, always refer to your device’s manufacturers manual regarding the effect of magnets on your specific item.

Do MAGNETIPS pens contains permanent ink?

Our fine-line refills are water based and are not considered permanent. They can easily be cleaned from most smooth surfaces, and are best suitable for use on paper.

Are your pens safe for children?

We have incorporated many safety features early in the design stage, so our pens will be safe to use from age 3 and above.

Mechanical safety: Our magnets are firmly secured using a unique mechanical locking system inside the pen, to minimise the risk of accidentally coming loose.

Air- flow safe cap- our pen lids are a size which makes them unlikely to be accidentally ingested. To further decrease risk, all MAGNETIPS caps have vents which allow air flow and will help minimise the risk of suffocation in case a cap is partly inhaled.

Loose magnets can be dangerous, especially to young children. Please discard safely any parts which become broken/damaged.

In addition, we have instructed an independently recognised test house to confirm that our products meet the highest international standards of manufacturing and material quality and safety. To date, we have received the following safety certificates:

UK: BS7272

CANADA: SOR/2011-2017 CCPSA

EU: EN 71 1+2+3, Entry 51&51, Entry 23

AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND: ISO 8124

USA: ASTM-D4236, ASTM-F936-22, CPSIA 101, CPSIA 108

Will the magnets in my pens lose their strength over time?

Neodymium magnets, such as the ones embedded in our pens, are amongst the strongest and most permanent magnets on earth. If they are not overheated or physically damaged, neodymium magnets will lose less than 1% of their strength over 10 years. They won't even lose their strength if they are held in repelling or attracting positions with other magnets over long periods of time.

How long will my refills last?

The answer depends on several variables, to name a few-

-The type of paper used- some paper types will absorb more ink than others.

-The average amount of pressure applied while using the pens.

-The writing/colouring angle (which affects line width).

-The amount of time the pen is left uncapped.

As these parameters vary between users, the answer is not straight forward. In a test we have made to newly produced refills, we achieved a line length of over 400 meters.
